Organization Structure
Executive board
The Executive Board oversees the daily management and operations of the SWS at UVA chapter. The Executives Board consists of ten officers who lead our chapter’s various programs and initiatives.
Investment board
The Investment Board oversees all aspects of managing our chapter’s $47k active-money portfolio. The Investment Board consists of qualified individuals who have previously served on the Research Team and thus have the extensive knowledge and training required to make judicious investment decisions.
Research team
The Research Team conducts in-depth research within seven industries of interest and recommends stocks to initiate in our portfolio. Each industry group is consists of Research Analysts and is led by a Senior Analyst.
marketing committee
The Marketing Committee maintains our organization’s outward facing presence by creating marketing channels to advertise SWS’s mission and goals as well as producing our Annual Report.
Probies
Probationary members (“probies”) are potential members whose full membership is contingent upon successful completion of our Education Program. Probies undergo a full semester of investment training by attending educational seminars and participating in an investment project.
GMT will provide weekly briefings on current macroeconomic trends and events to the Research Team and Investment Board to supplement their industry and company-specific research. The GMT provides new full members the opportunity to gain more experience and training before joining the Research Team and serves to accommodate our increasing membership.
